Remaining Seeding Scenarios Entering Final Weekend of Basketball Regular Seasons

first_imgFRISCO, Texas – Attached are the remaining seeding scenarios for the 2018 Southland Conference Basketball Conference Tournament. The document outlines the possibilities for both men’s and women’s competition heading into the final slate of conference games Saturday.The tournament, which features the top eight teams from the regular season in each bracket, commences Wednesday (March 7) in Katy, Texas, at the Leonard E. Merrell Center. This year’s tourney will mark the 11th consecutive year the Southland tournament is in Katy.For the women’s conference tournament, the eight competing schools are known with seeding to be finalized based on the results of Saturday’s six games featuring 12 of 13 conference schools. The women’s teams that will be battling for the Southland Conference tournament championship and the accompanying automatic berth in the 2018 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament: Lamar (No. 1 seed); Stephen F. Austin (No. 2 seed); Central Arkansas (No. 3 seed); New Orleans; Texas A&M-Corpus Christi; Nicholls; Abilene Christian; and McNeese.On the men’s side, seven schools have secured spots in Katy: Nicholls; Southeastern Louisiana; Stephen F. Austin; Sam Houston State; Lamar; New Orleans; Central Arkansas (No. 7 seed). Three teams – Abilene Christian, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and McNeese — are still eligible to clinch a spot. With six games on tap Saturday, seven seeds are yet to be determined. Current standings leader Nicholls has clinched at least a share of the regular-season crown, while Central Arkansas is only men’s team to have locked in a specific seed.
