Woman jailed for breaking car windscreen

first_imgA woman, who was behaving disorderly in the court room on Wednesday, was sentenced to nine months in prison after she admitted to damaging a car.Forty-five-year-old Vanessa Schroeder appeared before Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.She pleaded guilty to the charge which stated that on July 31, 2019, at Hadfield and Cross Streets, Georgetown, she unlawfully and maliciously damaged a $70,000 windscreen of a car – the property of Donna Bailey.In court on Wednesday, the woman said, “…they always troubling me, that’s why I damaged the vehicle”.The woman, in handcuffs, began to behave in a disorderly manner in the courtroom, which caused a female Police officer to approach her and ask her to quiet down.The irate woman turned to the officer and shouted, “Don’t ****ing touch me! Let me talk to the Magistrate because I am sick and tired of y’all pushing me around, I am tired of the pushing around”.Police Prosecutor Ceon Blackman, who presented the facts of the matter to the court, stated that on the day in question, the Virtual Complainant parked her vehicle at Hadfield and Cross Streets, Georgetown, when Schroeder approached the vehicle with a brick and threw it at the front windscreen, causing it to break.The matter was reported to the Police and the woman was arrested.The Magistrate, after listening to the facts, sentenced the woman to nine months behind bars.The woman, upon hearing she was jailed, began cursing the Magistrate and shouting “I gon’ chop off all them prisoners’ head!”The woman began to throw water on the male prisoners who were inside the holding area, moments after she was escorted to the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts lock-ups.last_img
