Ciarán McDonald retires from inter-county football

first_imgCiarán McDonald has hung up his inter-county boots.The Aherlow man took the decision to retire due to ongoing injury problems.He made his senior intercounty championship debut in 2008 against Limerick – and his final game in the blue and gold came in the All-Ireland semi-final against Mayo in 2016. One of the biggest moments of Ciaran’s career came in 2010 when he led the under-21s to their first ever Munster title – beating Kerry by a single point.Last night, the Tipperary senior footballers received their division three Allianz National Football League medals at a function in the Clonmel Park Hotel.Yesterday they overcame Limerick comprehensively in a challenge game in Golden.Speaking to Tipp FM after the game manager Liam Kearns says they need to hit the ground running in Division 2 of the league this year..last_img
