While the primary accused Tausif has been convicted under the provisions of Arms Act also, co accused Reehan has only been convicted under provisions of IPC.The Court had acquitted the third accused namely Arjudeen who had supplied the weapon which killed the deceased.The verdict was delivered four months after the trial commenced in December last year.Nikita Tomar, a 20 year old B.Com. final year student, was shot dead in broad daylight on October 26, 2020 by her schoolmate in Faridabad’s Ballabgarh in Haryana.Nikita was shot by Tousif, in the presence of his friend Reehan, an incident which was recorded in the CCTV present in the area. The footage showed the two trying to force Nikita to enter their car while she was coming out from Aggarwal College after writing an exam.The FIR was registered under sec. 302 (punishment for murder), 364 (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder), 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage), 34 (common intention) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code and sec. 25(1), 54 and 59 of Arms Act.A Special Investigating Team (SIT) was constituted on 27th October led by Anil Kumar Yadav, ACP (crime) for probing into the matter followed by which a chargesheet running into 700 pages was filed by the SIT.
