Debbah Names Squad to Face Tunisia Saturday

first_imgA week to the Liberia vs. Tunisia’s clash at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium, the head coach James Salinsa Debbah has released a list of 26 players for the crucial game on Saturday, September 5.Surprising exclusion from the list included the likes of Patrick Ronaldinho Wleh, Isaac Popo, Tonia Tisdell and Theo Weeks. The list included Francis Grandpa Doe, William Jebor, Soto Roberts, Sekou Conneh, Sam Johnson, and BYC’s goal-netter Mark Paye to boost the front-liners for a must win. In the middle, coach Debbah introduced a new winger Herron Berrian, recalled Patrick Gehardt, Anthony Laffor, Sporo Somah, Murphy Oscar Dolley, Zah Krangar and Sekou Jabateh. But many football fans have criticized the call-up of Sekou Jabateh owing to his absence from the pitch for over six months and argued that Theo Weeks would be the best option. In the defense, Omega Roberts makes a return to the squad in a central defender role alongside with Solomon Grimes. The call-up of Saylee Swen indicates that Nathaniel Sherman is losing his top most position with Coach Debbah. Goalies Sampson Gidding and Tommy Sango are also called.Liberia lost her first game to Togo, 2-1, and Debbah feels the pressure as the Lone Star goes against Tunisia that whipped Djibouti 8-1 in the first game of the AFCON qualifiers.A loss by the Lone Star means the country is out of contention, but a win indicates a “light at the end of the tunnel.”Goalkeeper: Nathaniel Sherman, Sampson Gidding, Saylee Swen and Tommy SangoRight back: Solomon Grimes, Trokon ZeonLeft back: Gizzie Dorbor, Adolphus Marshall, Aloysius SimujilaCentral defense : Teah Dennis, Kohn Dirkir Glay , Omega Roberts, Raymond Farciah ,Midfield : Patrick Gehardt, Anthony Laffor , Sporo Somah , Murphy Oscar Dolley, Herron Barrian , Zah Krangar, Sekou JabatehForwards: William Jebor , Soto Roberts, Sekou Conneh, Sam Johnson, Mark Paye, Francis Doe.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img read more
