We didn’t impose our gameplan in 90 minutes like we wanted to do, but really I know it’s difficult. Some really good things today, others to check and improve. Fireworks expected in Limacol football quarter finals tonight

first_imgTHE remaining eight teams in the 2017 Limacol round-robin knockout football competition will be trimmed this evening when quarter-final action takes place at two separate grounds. At the first venue,in the Mining town of Linden, the home side Milerock will take on Georgetown powerhouse Western Tigers.Already with the taste of victory and their winning streak during the group stages, the ‘backroad’ based side will surely have a spring in their step going into tonight’s game and they are expected to utilize more build-up plays. However, the home advantage for Milerock should not be understated as the team has been known to galvanize when playing in front of vocal supporters, something the mining town is not short of.That and their upbeat tempo of playing should make for an interesting matchup.Western have scored six times in their three group appearances while conceding three goals. On the other hand,Milerock had three for and one against.Game two will feature the physicality of Federal Winners Connection going up a more youthful and engine-like team in Eagles.Federal WC in their last encounter left very little to be imagined with regard to how physical they can get, playing Milerock to a goal-less stalemate and it will be interesting to see how the Eagles manage to overcome this.Over at the other playing venue, Victoria ground, the Guyana Police Force will meet West Coast side Den Amstel. The West Bank side managed to score seven goals in their three games and only conceded one while the boys in blue scored five and conceded three, making for an expected cracker when the whistle blows off.Game two, however,is where the real fire fight lies with the Mahaica Determinators having to do battle against Santos FC.The Mahaica side has scored twice as many goals in the group stages (eight) as their Georgetown opponents but have also conceded five goals to their quarterfinal opposition’s two.The first match begins at 18:30hrs with the second game starting at 20:30hrslast_img read more
