The Santa Fe High School wrestler, who claimed a fourth-place medal at last weekend’s CIF State wrestling championships in Bakersfield, has earned a trip to the NHSCA Senior Nationals, scheduled for Virginia Beach, Va. on March 29-April 1. Romero’s 2006-07 resume includes a 45-10 record, a Del Rio League League title and a runner-up at CIF-Southern Section divisionals. “It’s very exciting,” Santa Fe coach Sal Garcia said. “I don’t know if we’ve ever had anyone go to the senior nationals. If we did, it was someone back in the 1980s. “It’s a very big thing. A lot of the college recruiting is done at the senior nationals, so it’s a great opportunity for Lenny.” Whittier College will play host to the Sargent’s Sporting Goods East Meets West All-Star Basketball Game on Saturday.
